Church Wedding & Marquee Drinks Reception

A couple of weeks ago we were delighted to perform at Sarah and Simon’s beautiful church wedding in Staffordshire. It was a beautifully sunny day and the church, which was in a lovely, little village, even had some wild strawberries growing outside! We arrived at the church before the guests and found a spot near the organ to set up our music stands. While the wedding guests took their seats we performed a few classical pieces (with a little bit of Sam Smith thrown into the mix!), and soon received a cue to stop playing from the priest taking the ceremony.  We stopped playing and waited while he asked the congregation to stand, everyone falling silent as we eagerly awaited the bridal party.

For the bridal party’s entrance we played Pachelbel’s Canon in D – the bridesmaids looked beautiful in blue and Sarah looked absolutely stunning in her gorgeous dress from Bridal Couture By Josephine.

After the actual marriage we entertained the guests with Kissing you (Des’Ree), Bittersweet Symphony (The Verve) and At Last (Etta James) while Sarah and Simon signed the register. And to round off a lovely, musical service, we played a toe-tapping, celebratory rendition of Marry You by Bruno Mars while the bride and groom and their guests left the church!

After the ceremony we quickly piled back in the car and drove to a nearby field where they had set up a beautifully decorated marquee. We managed to arrive before any of the guests and found a spot to set up from which to play the songs our couple had selected for this part of the day. We though it was a great playlist, with a variety of tracks from recent hits, to classic pop and rock songs (view the full list below).

We absolutely loved playing at this wedding! We hope you’ve enjoyed this post and Paul Harwood‘s brilliant photos – do head on over and check him out here: http://www.paulharwoodphotography.com/
